چکیده
Abstract In this paper, the dynamical similarity of multi-block catenary arches and columns is discussed, which can be used for simplified design rocking arches. The basic hypothesis that dynamic response similar when shape arch follows thrust line, i.e. it a arch. It validated numerically responses slender are safe reliable approximations those not then overturning acceleration (response) spectra rigid, monolithic blocks directly applied based on two parameters, limit peak ground (under structure will move at all) frequency parameter (defined by Housner rigid blocks).

Rocking Behaviour of Multi-Block Columns Subjected to Pulse-Type Ground Motion Accelerations
Ancient columns, made with a variety of materials such as marble, granite, stone or masonry are an important part of the European cultural heritage. In particular columns of ancient temples in Greece and Sicily which support only the architrave are characterized by small axial load values. This feature together with the slenderness typical of these structural members clearly highlights as the e...

Free Rocking of Prismatic Blocks
This paper investigates both experimentally and theoretically the free rocking of a prismatic block supported by a stationary , horizontal foundation: the block is tilted, almost to the point of overturning, and released from this position. It is shown that the standard mathematical model for this problem is often inaccurate. A critical review of the implicit assumptions behind the standard mod...
متن کاملINVESTIGATION OF NON-LINEAR CYCLES’ PROPERTIES IN STRUCTURES SUBJECTED TO ENDURANCE TIME EXCITATION FUNCTIONS
Endurance Time Method (ET) is a dynamic analysis in which structures are subjected to intensifying accelerograms that are optimized in a way that seismic performance of structures can be estimated at different hazard levels with the best possible accuracy. For the currently available ET accelerograms, regardless of the shaking characteristic, an excitation level is recognized as a representativ...
متن کاملStochastic analysis of two adjacent structures subjected to structural pounding under earthquake excitation
Seismic pounding occurs as a result of lateral vibration and insufficient separation distance between two adjacent structures during earthquake excitation. This research aims to evaluate the stochastic behavior of adjacent structures with equal heights under earthquake-induced pounding. For this purpose, many stochastic analyses through comprehensive numerical simulations are carried out. About...
